Natalie Faulkner
I'm a recent graduate of the Master of Microbial Biotechnology (MMB) program at NC State with a background in Bioprocessing Science. I have an understanding of the science and engineering processes involved in the pharmaceutical industry as well as the path to market for pharmaceuticals. I have researched and presented on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, agricultural substrates, human health markets, and optimization strategies for fermentation processes. While I am currently looking for a job that will help me build my experience in the biotech industry, in the future I hope to work in a product management role where I can get invested in and excited about a product and see it through to market.
CAREER OBJECTIVES
I have been fascinated with the pharmaceutical development process since I first started studying it in my undergraduate degree. I found the methodology of taking a product from an idea to a marketable entity truly interesting and from there developed my interest in product management. However, I have always been a strong believer that a manager should have a strong idea of what they're managing. The best ways for me to develop that understanding is to be part of the process - either in a process development or quality control where I can get into the weeds of a process either by building it or investigating its failures. That being said, I also know that it is very important to be able to translate scientific needs and possibilities to business potentials and vice versa. Through my graduate program I found a new passion in just that - finding a place for a scientific innovation and explaining to the innovators how to make it a more marketable product. For that reason, I also have a strong interest in business and market analyses. I know these are all very different things, but my education has set me up in a unique position to be well prepared to move forward with any and all of these interests.
